Since I am attending a retirement party this weekend, I thought a new outfit might be a good idea. Off to Walmart where I soon found a very nice 2 piece top. However the matching shorts (it is a golf and casual affair) were not to be found. Phoeey. Found a navy blue pair that I thought might be okay. Tom says not. Gave me that funny look that men wear when you have forced them to give an opinion that they think will get them in trouble. Okay...

Off to Kmart, Sears, Penneys, Elder Beerman and am considering going farther north. All I want is a pair of black shorts or slacks that fit and don't cost more than the top I want to wear with them. Is that too much to ask? Apparently.

I know, I know, I am fixated on this top. It is a lovely aqua blue and has a short sleeve shell under a long sleeved loose blouse. Looks very nice on me and hides the parts I prefer to hide.

Then to make matters worse, Tom asked what am I taking the retirement person as a gift.

A gift?

Oh, boy. I have to go shopping again tomorrow.

Life goes on

You lose some, you win some. My youngest is still being prickly.....

but my oldest girl is back in my life.

The truly weird part of this is that my oldest was pissed at me too. Not the same reasons, she had her own naturally but not speaking to Mom seems to be a running theme. She did write and apologise which I greatly appreciated but they were still in the army and moving around

but she now lives about an hour or so away and she wrote then called then came to visit, twice in the past 10 days and we are going up July 1. They are retired from the Army and have bought a house and she is emphatic that she wants to spend time with us and so are the grandchildren. !!! I thought we would be one of those families who live so far apart that letters and phone calls are it. I never thought they would settle anywhere close to here.

So... prickly child is still prickly but oldest child has outgrown it.

Children are such a mixed blessing.
